The Denge Marsh Hoard was discovered in 1739 by a carpenter from nearby Lydd, while digging a post-hole on Denge Marsh. The hoard consisted over several hundred pennies and their cut fractions. The hoard was dominated by coins of this type from the mint of Romney by it's sole moneyer Wulfmær.
