The die engraver appears to have missed the first E from the mint signature, this reading is not found in Hildebrand or the SCBI/EMC corpus. The mint signature has similarities to those of the Axbridge mint but no coins are known for this type or moneyer. The combination is however known at Exeter. A ticket in the hand of Elmore Jones, author of the corpus on the Axminster (Axbridge) mint included.
