The die engraver appears
to have missed the first E from the mint signature, this reading is not
found in Hildebrand or the SCBI/EMC corpus. The mint signature has
similarities to those of the Axbridge mint but no coins are known for this
type or moneyer. The combination is however known at Exeter. A ticket in the
hand of Elmore Jones, author of the corpus on the Axminster (Axbridge) mint
included.
