H1361 - Henry I (1100-1125), Penny 1.37g., BMC type X, Full Face / Cross Fleury type (c.1117), Winchester - Aelwine, crowned and diademed facing bust, [HENRI]CVS RE[X A], rev., cross fleury +Æ[LPINE ON] PIN[CL], (N.866; S.1271), very fine, irregular flan, very rare, official snick from mint in flan at 5 o'clock. $695 SOLD

Ex "Beauvais" Hoard, #12.
The "Beauvais" Hoard of 339 coins was discovered near Paris and appeared at auction, Glendining's sale on November 4, 1987. The hoard comprised English issues of William II - Stephen, Scottish coins of David I and continental ecclesiastical issues (including coins of the Bishops of Beauvais after which the hoard was named). There were only 15 coins of this type in the hoard.

H1332 - Henry I (1100-1125), Silver Penny, 1.35g., Quadrilateral on Cross Fleury type (1125-c.1135), BMC type XV, unknown mint, moneyer Godwine, crowned three-quarters facing diademed bust of Henry holding a sceptre, HENRICVS, rev., quadrilateral with incurved sides and lis at each angle over cross fleury, +GODPINE:ON [….], (N.871; S.1276), weakly struck in parts as is the norm, otherwise almost very fine with a reasonably good portrait for type. $385 SOLD

H1130 - Henry I (1100-1125), Silver Penny, 1.34g., Quadrilateral on Cross Fleury type (1125-c.1135), BMC type XV, London - Wulfwine, crowned three-quarters facing diademed bust of Henry holding a sceptre, HENRICVS, rev., quadrilateral with incurved sides and lis at each angle over cross fleury, +WULFWINE:ON:LVND, (N.871; S.1276), weakly struck in parts as is the norm, otherwise almost very fine, with almost complete regal, mint and moneyer legends. $445 SOLD
