no m.m., facing busts of Philip II of Spain and Mary, a crown above,
dividing date, PHILIP ET MARIA D G R ANG FR NEAP PR HISP, rev., oval
crowned garnished shield with arms of the Spanish Possessions and England,
value either of crown, POSVIMVS DEVM ADIVTOREM NOSTRVM (N.1970; S.2505),
small hairline on obverse, weak spot at 1 o'clock, two even portraits,

very fine and toned.

wear, portraits and regal titles still discernible. $295

These fine silver issues remained in
circulation as accepted currency until the Great Recoinage of 1696. Judging
from the amount of honest wear on this particular coin it must have remained
in circulation well into the seventeenth century. |
