Pietas standing right holding scepter and drawing out fold of drapery from
her breast, two children (Caracalla and Geta) playing at her feet, PONTIF TR

163), some slight pitting, otherwise almost extremely fine, dark patina,
a scarce and enigmatic type. $695

The two children on the
reverse most probably represent Geta and Caracalla an ironic illusion to
harmony amongst the brothers only months before Geta's murder by his elder
brother.
