R2009 - Vespasian (A.D. 69-79), Brass Sestertius, 24.57g., Rome mint, A.D. 71, laureate bust of Vespasian right, IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG P M TR P P P COS III,  rev., around a palm tree, a bound male Jewish captive standing right, captured arms around, female Jewish captive seated right, IVDAEA CAPTA S C, (Hendin 773; RIC 424; RCV 2325), some roughness, fine, most of the salient features are clear, a good example of this historic and popular type. $495

This type was struck in commemoration of the success of Vespasian and his son Titus in quelling the First Jewish Revolt.
